Rockville, MD —The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) is announcing the release of a new tool intended to support the education of multidisciplinary care team members and adoption of technological and operational advancements. Referred to as the OPTIC eLearning module, the newly released tool offers resources for the multidisciplinary care team to use to support adoption of innovations, emerging practices, and the establishment of guidelines in oncology across disciplines and specialties.
With continued advancements in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of cancer, oncology programs and practices are challenged to keep pace. For oncology providers, these advancements mean a steady increase in clinical information that must be integrated at the point of care. This potential information overload is creating what are known as knowledge gaps, which can lead to over- or under-testing and inconsistent treatment decisions.
ACCC created the Oncology Practice Transformation and Integration Center (OPTIC) program to establish a network of multidisciplinary oncology professionals to support peer-to-peer learning and successful implementation of new therapies and technologies and the development and adoption of operational best practices. The OPTIC eLearning module is a dynamic online course where individuals can learn at their own pace to acquire the key knowledge and skills necessary to implement practice transformation strategies to support better health outcomes for all cancer patients and their caregivers.
The ACCC Oncology Practice Transformation and Integration Center (OPTIC) program is supported by AstraZeneca.
