As the complexity of cancer screenings increases, community programs are seeking a more coordinated care experience for their patients. To achieve this goal, programs are improving staff efficiencies, investing in diagnostic skills development, and clarifying team member’s roles, among other initiatives.
To assist in these efforts, ACCC has created educational resources designed to help programs better align electronic health record (EHR) system workstreams with teams’ workflows. These resources will address reporting challenges within EHR systems and provide practical strategies that programs can use when placing reports into these systems.
Guided by advisory committees, ACCC will review community cancer program protocols regarding timely patient referrals so best practices can be identified and shared. Meetings with participating programs will be held to discuss quality improvement initiatives at their sites.
