Carol K. Tweed, MD, is board certified in hematology, and medical oncology. She received her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. She then completed her internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Tweed served on the faculty at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2006-2012 as a breast medical oncologist and educator. She then moved to Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis, Maryland, where she continues to practice in the AAMC Oncology and Hematology group. Dr. Tweed passionately cares for patients with a broad range of hematologic and oncologic disorders, and continues to focus on breast cancer.
She is a member of multiple AAMC breast cancer leadership committees, a regional and national speaker on the topics of breast cancer and cancer genomics, and co-founder and co-director of the Maryland Breast Cancer Consortium. An active clinical researcher at AAMC, Dr. Tweed serves as principal investigator on numerous national and international clinical trials sponsored by ECOG, SWOG, ALLIANCE, Johns Hopkins, National Cancer Institute, and more. She also serves as an instructor of medicine/preceptor for Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
